Catalizador Program
Catalizador Program at El Consultorio PLLC is a professional-development initiative that supports bachelor’s and master’s level bilingual and bicultural interns completing their academic programs in psychology, counseling, or related behavioral-health fields.
The program serves as a bridge between academic training and real-world clinical practice, helping emerging clinicians gain the experience needed to serve diverse Latinx and immigrant communities effectively.
Purpose
Catalizador’s mission is twofold:
- Empower future clinicians by providing high-quality supervision, mentorship, and professional-growth opportunities in a culturally affirming environment.
- Increase access to affordable mental-health services for underserved clients by offering reduced-fee therapy sessions provided by supervised interns.
How it Works:
- Sessions through the Catalizador Program are offered at an adjusted fee rate of $50 – $75 per session, depending on financial need.
- All sessions are provided by bilingual, bicultural bachelor’s and master’s level interns under the supervision of licensed clinical supervisors.
- Services include individual, couple, and family therapy, available in-person or via telehealth.
- If you are unable to pay the $50 minimum fee, please contact us to discuss other available options.
- You can also reach out to the community center in your county.
Who Can Apply
Anyone receiving services at El Consultorio—insured, underinsured, or uninsured.
Community Impact
- By supporting the Catalizador Program, El Consultorio:
- Expands the pipeline of bilingual and bicultural behavioral-health professionals at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Increases access to culturally responsive and affordable care.
- Strengthens community wellness by fostering representation, empathy, and trust within mental-health services.
Training Focus
Interns receive structured training and supervision in:
- Trauma-informed care and EMDR fundamentals
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Cultural humility and immigration-related clinical work
- Documentation and clinical compliance for Medicaid and private insuran
What You Need to Apply
Anyone may apply to the Catalizador Program. No proof of income is required.
If you have private insurance, you may be required to complete an out-of-network or self-pay form, as insurance benefits cannot be used for this program.
Please note that El Consultorio does not provide services for court-ordered cases, including custody evaluations, custody-related therapy, or reunification therapy.
