Affordable Mental Health Care at El Consultorio
At El Consultorio, we believe everyone deserves access to quality mental health care, regardless of income or insurance status. That is why we offer a Sliding Fee Discount Program to help reduce the cost of therapy for individuals and families who qualify.
Our program is designed to support clients who are uninsured, underinsured, or experiencing financial hardship by adjusting the cost of services based on household income and family size. We are committed to making culturally responsive, bilingual mental health services more accessible to our community.
How it Works:
- Fees are determined using the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
- Discounts range from 20% to 80% off the full fee.
- Clients earning less than 100% of the federal poverty level pay a nominal fee of $20.
- No one wil be denied care due to an inability to pay.
Who Can Apply
Clients with a household income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
What You Need to Apply
- A recent pay stub, last year's tax return, or a signed and notarized declaration form.
- We re-evaluete eligibity every 6 months or when there is a change in the client's financial situation.

Training Focus
Interns receive structured training and supervision in:
- Trauma-informed care and EMDR fundamentals
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Cultural humility and immigration-related clinical work
- Documentation and clinical compliance for Medicaid and private insuran
What You Need to Apply
Anyone may apply to the Catalizador Program. No proof of income is required.
If you have private insurance, you may be required to complete an out-of-network or self-pay form, as insurance benefits cannot be used for this program.
Please note that El Consultorio does not provide services for court-ordered cases, including custody evaluations, custody-related therapy, or reunification therapy.
