About Carla
Hi, I’m Carla Whitlatch-Lopez, MS, MSW, SWC, a proud first-generation Mexican American born and raised in Denver, Colorado. Growing up deeply connected to the Latinx community, I understand the unique challenges of navigating multiple cultural identities. My personal and professional journey has shaped a therapeutic approach that prioritizes cultural sensitivity, emotional awareness, and holistic healing.
Since beginning my career in Social Work in 2018, I have been dedicated to supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, I focused on advocating for families and individuals with disabilities. In 2020, I completed a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology at Southern New Hampshire University, followed by a Master’s degree in Social Work at Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2021. My career then transitioned to supporting families impacted by domestic violence. In 2023, I began my role as a therapist while pursuing licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC).
My therapeutic approach is rooted in collaboration and empowerment, aiming to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard and valued. I am passionate about working with children and families, helping them navigate and resolve parent-child conflicts while fostering secure and meaningful attachments.
I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities tailored to each client’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness practices, attachment-based interventions, and solution-focused techniques. My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, disruptive behaviors, and relational and family dynamics.
Outside of my professional work, I cherish time spent with my family and pets, exploring the outdoors, and embracing my cultural roots. These personal experiences enrich my ability to approach therapy with empathy and authenticity, ensuring a holistic perspective in my work with clients.
