What Is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a professional mental health service that helps individuals, couples, and families understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in order to improve emotional well-being and overall functioning. Individual Therapy

   Allowing for dialogue to flow in a manner uninhibited and raw, individual therapy is a form of personalized, and contextualized therapy where the patient is treated one-on-one with their therapist.
When you come for an individual therapy appointment at El Consultorio, you are guaranteed complete, sole focus of our highly-qualified therapists. With ample space and time to form connections and build a deeper relationship, you work in a confidential, tranquil and solution-oriented manner, together with our therapists.
Individual therapy encompasses many modalities.  

Cognitive behavior therapy, psychoanalysis, and person centered therapy are among the most widely used forms of individual therapy.
Designed to suit your personal style and resolve your personal issues, individual therapy can last anywhere between only a few appointments to several months. 

Adolescent Therapy

     Adolescence is a period brimmed with complications, change, and overwhelming emotions. Today, most adolescents suffer from emotional challenges. These mental health changes can be triggered by hormonal changes, puberty, environmental and family situations, and a sudden nostalgia for childhood. With high-piled academic pressures and evolving friend circles resulting in an expanding disconnection between parents and their growing children, adolescents need more professional help to deal with the mental and physical changes in their life. At El Consultorio our therapists work with adolescents through different techniques including play therapy, talk therapy,  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and more. Depression, stress, and anxiety in adolescents is also combined with occasional hypersomnia, fatigue, and a general lack of interest in academics, sports, and life. Our therapists aim to help your child regain their energy by providing them support and consultation. Our treatments are committed to helping them understand the evolving interpersonal dynamics of their life by bringing to them experienced support, while simultaneously building their trust.

 We have qualified and experienced child therapists on board who help bilingual children through their issues of generational trauma, challenging schooling environments, depression, anxiety, isolation and many other issues. Through positivity, warmth, and empathy, our psychotherapists are encouraging and strengthening confidence in adolescents by listening to them, understanding them, and boosting their self-esteem.
